Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween everyone! We have had a great day, but unfortunately we had no trick or treaters at our house tonight. We live right on Main Street so it's hard to get in and out of driveway. I thought we would at least have a few kids come by. Our neighbors have kids and we live right across from a neighborhood, but no takers.

Halloween is definitely not the same as it was when we were kids. I can remember go to a neighborhood close to our house and starting at one end and walking all the way around (without parents near by) or riding in the back of our father's trucks. We had so much fun! Kids now don't do all of that because the world is just not the same....

I hope when Alan and I do have kids that we can go and have some true fun around neighborhoods in town. I miss that part of being a kid...

Well, I'm off to the store tomorrow to get more decorations on sale for next year. So we can have a super cool decorated house and everything even though we get no takers on the treats. It is still fun to get into the spirit of everything and enjoy yourself.

Family is Everything

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. ~Desmond Tutu

This saying is so true. I would do anything for mine or Alan's families and I have been doing just that, especially over the past year. Several months ago Alan's grandfather's girlfriend broke her leg and I helped them while she was in the hospital. I stayed with her in the hospital, took care of him at home, and kept everything straight for the both of them while she was recooperating. Alan and his family were so thankful for that help and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Now it's my turn to take care of my family. My grandfather just had open heart surgery and was sent home this past Monday from the hospital. I came over yesterday to help him and my grandmother around the house, with the dog, and just to visit them both. Unfortunately I cannot stay long because I have to get back to work, but my mom is coming in on Friday to help them. I love my family so much and wish I could help out more but time and distance doesn't always allow that for me. My grandfather is doing very well and should have a full recovery in about 6 weeks. My grandmother is also doing well with the whole thing...she is just now making a full recovery from breaking her pelvis bone several months ago. Both are well and in good spirits, but will need some help over the next few weeks. I would do anything for my families and I know they feel the same.

I love my families and want to help out as much as possible, because you only get one family and you must make the most of it. They are truly God's gift to me and Alan. Keep us in your prayers!

Grease Monkies

We have had a very busy weekend. Alan's mom came in on Friday morning so as soon as she got into town we went to eat breakfast. Alan took off of work Friday and I didn't have to go in until 3, so we played around Tupelo for most of the morning. Saturday I had to work 7-3 so Alan and his mom kept themselves occupied until I got off. Then we attempted to go to the Pumkin Patch at the buffalo park but once we got there and saw there wasn't much to do and $8.00 wasn't worth anything they had...even the pumkins (slim pickins). Later that night we went to go see the new movie, "Law Abiding Citizen"...great movie. I recommend it highly and I don't usually watch movies like that, but it was good!!

Rhonda left early Sunday morning, I went to go play tennis, and Alan went to go and put the new drive shaft in our bus conversion. By the time that I got there 2 hours later, Alan was covered from head to toe in grease...LITERALLY!! He had the majority of the work done, but being the good wife that I am I got right in there with him and helped him with the rest...grease and all. When we were finished we both were somewhat greasy...Alan more than me (of course). He was really happy that I actually did what I said I would do, because usually when it involves his toys I don't help as much as I say I will. But we had a great time and spent some quality time together doing what Alan loves. Our weekend was eventful and fun...we should really do more stuff on the weekends, but with work and everything we don't usually have time. By the way...I have pics from painting my house in Jackson I just have to upload them onto the computer. There are not that many, but still worth posting.

Getting Ready to Paint!!

So I came into to Jackson this morning to get my house ready for my tenant to move in next weekend. I have so much stuff to do before my paint crew (aka: my mom, husband, family friends, etc) gets here tomorrow. I have already packed up the remainder of our stuff from kitchen cabinets, cleaned and taped off the living room so they can start painting as soon as they get here in the morning. I still have to clean the bathrooms, hallway, and bedrooms so they can be taped off too.

While I was in town I decided to go visit some friends to I'm taking a break from cleaning and taping to head out to Star and visit for a few hours and then back to work it is. Who knows what time I will get in bed tonight but I promised them that everything would be cleaned and taped off by 10am tomorrow. I may have a long night in front of me...we'll see. I also hope that I can finish painting the bathrooms by the time they get here, so that means up early in the morning.

More news and pics of this fabulous painting weekend to come. Wish me Luck!

Can't Sleep

I cannot sleep tonight...

I hate when I have to work so many different shifts in one week, my sleep schedule never gets on a normal track. I got of work at 7 a.m. Monday morning, ran errands then slept for a few hours so I would be able to sleep on a normal schedule tonight. I guess we see how that turned out... I have to go to work tomorrow from 10 to 6pm and that is going to be tough if I can't go back to sleep before then.

I have thought about it and it turns out I love this blog thing because I can now just jot down my thoughts whenever I want. If people read it or not...doesn't matter - it's getting out of my head. LOL!!

I am ready for this weekend. I hope I can get off this weekend so I can see my mom and help them paint my house in Jackson. Well, I'm off to try to sleep. Goodnight!!

Rain Rain Go Away

It is raining yet again this morning. It has rained entirely too much over the past 2 months. I have alot of stuff to do and the rain just doesn't help me. And as Alan just pointed out to me...it is Columbus day so therefore the post office and bank are closed, so that takes two items off the to do list and put's them on tomorrow's. Oh Well...that's how it goes.

Well, since I just got home from work about an hour ago and have eaten breakfast I gues I'm off to run errands then home to take a nap.

So Much To Do...Not Enough Time To Do It

Alan and I have so much stuff to do before this weekend. We are going down to Jackson to finish cleaning and painting our house there before the guy who leased it moves in next weekend. My mom and a family friend are coming in from Dallas to help; plus we will have help from some of our friends in Jackson but still there is alot to do. Not to mention alot for me to do before we go down.

I have to buy the paint, get boxes to pack stuff in, buy all the supplies to paint with, etc, etc. But besides all of that there is still the stuff I have to do in Tupelo too...normal everyday stuff like go to work, buy groceries, and run errands. I just hope my boss is going to let me have Saturday off so I can go help, if not they will have to do everything without me.

I am very excited about leasing our house out but not looking forward to all the stuff we still have to do in only a weeks worth of time. Wish us Luck!!

First Blog Ever

I just wanted to see what this was all about. I think I'm going to love this because I can let everyone know what's going on in our lives all at the same time. We don't have much to tell our friends and family but it's all cool...I'll enjoy it any way.

We are currently very excited about leasing our house in Jackson. Since we were not able to sell it for the past 8 months, we decided to lease it out for a year and hope that when we put it back on the market it will sell very quickly.

Well that's all I have to write about right now.
