You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. ~Desmond Tutu
This saying is so true. I would do anything for mine or Alan's families and I have been doing just that, especially over the past year. Several months ago Alan's grandfather's girlfriend broke her leg and I helped them while she was in the hospital. I stayed with her in the hospital, took care of him at home, and kept everything straight for the both of them while she was recooperating. Alan and his family were so thankful for that help and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Now it's my turn to take care of my family. My grandfather just had open heart surgery and was sent home this past Monday from the hospital. I came over yesterday to help him and my grandmother around the house, with the dog, and just to visit them both. Unfortunately I cannot stay long because I have to get back to work, but my mom is coming in on Friday to help them. I love my family so much and wish I could help out more but time and distance doesn't always allow that for me. My grandfather is doing very well and should have a full recovery in about 6 weeks. My grandmother is also doing well with the whole thing...she is just now making a full recovery from breaking her pelvis bone several months ago. Both are well and in good spirits, but will need some help over the next few weeks. I would do anything for my families and I know they feel the same.
I love my families and want to help out as much as possible, because you only get one family and you must make the most of it. They are truly God's gift to me and Alan. Keep us in your prayers!
